Art Gallery of New South Wales

The Sydney Modern Project, a new extension to the Art Gallery of New South Wales, has involved the creation of a new standalone building, a public art garden, and the revitalization of the historic building. The project has provided much-needed exhibition space while respecting and enhancing public use of the surrounding landscape. The new building is just gorgeous to look at. It offers dynamic galleries, site-specific works by leading Australian and international artists, and extensive outdoor spaces.

Brett Whiteley Studio

The Brett Whiteley Studio has been managed as a museum by the Art Gallery of New South Wales since 1995. It offers free entry and tickets are not required for the studio and its exhibitions. The studio was the workplace and home of Australian artist Brett Whiteley (1939–92). Visitors have the unique opportunity to experience the atmosphere of the space, including the studio with his unfinished paintings, art equipment, and collections of reference books. The living area showcases memorabilia such as photographs, objects, postcards, furniture, music collection, and sketchbooks.
